Rite Aid Launches "Rite Aid Prescriptions for Education" with Just Between Friends, Benefitting Families and PTA Units Nationwide

Rite Aid and Just Between Friends today launched Rite Aid Prescriptions
for Education, a new prescription transfer program benefitting
participating families and local Parent Teacher Association (PTA) units
nationwide.
“One of Rite Aids core values is to make a difference in the
communities we serve. By teaming with Just Between Friends, we are able
to directly, and positively, affect the lives of millions of school
children and their families”
The new program includes a prescription transfer incentive for families
through participating local PTA units. Rite Aid will make a $5
contribution to a local PTA through the end of 2010 when a customer
transfers a prescription to their local Rite Aid pharmacy and submits a
coupon from their local PTA along with their medical insurance card.
A separate coupon will be specially generated for each PTA subscribing
to Just Between Friends, a free service that provides local
membership-based groups with a private online communication system for
their members. Families using the coupon also will receive a $20 Rite
Aid gift card with each transfer, good at any of its nearly 4,800 stores
in 31 states and the District of Columbia. Additional information
on the program and program rules are available at www.riteaid.com.
Rite Aid Prescriptions for Education is designed to extend beyond a
students immediate household. For example, relatives or friends of a
student can be given copies of their local PTA-generated coupon to take
advantage of the Rite Aid/Just Between Friends plan, thus significantly
increasing the potential donation to a particular PTA.
One of Rite Aids core values is to make a difference in the
communities we serve. By teaming with Just Between Friends, we are able
to directly, and positively, affect the lives of millions of school
children and their families, said John Learish, Rite Aid senior vice
president, marketing. Supporting local PTA units helps to enable more
vibrant communities which has a significant positive impact on schools
and the quality of education children receive.
Just Between Friends (www.justbetweenfriends.com)
helps local PTAs and other community-based groups, like churches and
sports leagues, communicate more effectively while maintaining a top
priority on the personal privacy so important to families.
Local group leaders can correspond directly with their members, either
through group e-mails or individually. Individual calendars also can be
created, allowing members to quickly view upcoming meetings and other
activities. From creating directories, member lists or rosters, to
communicating with your community and volunteer management, Just Between
Friends handles the full range of communications through a single,
easy-to-use browser interface.
In schools from coast-to-coast, Just Between Friends has actively
connected parents of school-aged children at schools with a combined
total of more than 3.1 million households, helping them form communities
that allow them to be more involved in their childrens education. The
more we use Just Between Friends, the more ways we think of using it,
said one local PTA co-president, echoing similar comments from local
community groups around the United States.
Schools continue to seek resources that will enhance their kids school
environment and their relationship with their communities. Our alliance
with Rite Aid will help them in further achieving that goal, said David
Radin, Just Between Friends president. Local PTAs throughout the
United States have chosen Just Between Friends to improve the full range
of communications between parents and schools. Through Rite Aid
Prescriptions for Education, were helping make those bonds just a
little stronger.
Just Between Friends and Rite Aid already are working on additional
efforts to involve parents in ways that will help make a difference in
the lives of both the parents and their children.
