     Police are investigating a manslaughter case happened in North Point this afternoon (August 20), in which a 61-year-old man died.
      
     At 3.14pm today, Police received a report from a 66-year-old man that he disputed with the 61-year-old man at a pier near North Point Estate Lane. Both men once fell into sea and swam to the seashore. Then they disputed again and fell into sea for the second time. The 66-year-old man swam to the seashore. He was sent to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital in conscious state.

     Police officers sped to the scene and firemen found the 61-year-old man at the bottom of the sea. He was rushed to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 5.44pm.
      
     After initial enquiry, Police arrested the 66-year-old man for manslaughter and he is being detained for further enquiries.
      
     Post-mortem examinations will be conducted later to ascertain the cause of death of the deceased.       
      
     Active investigations by the District Crime Squad of Eastern District is under way. Anyone who witnessed the case or has any information to offer is urged to contact the investigating officers on 3660 1685.

     Police are investigating a manslaughter case happened in Mong Kok on March 17 in which a 74-year-old local man died.

     At 9.22pm on that day, Police received a report from a staff member of an elderly home on Ivy Street that the 74-year-old man was fighting barehanded with a 75-year-old man. The 74-year-old man once fell on the ground.

     Police officers sped to the scene. Sustaining no superficial injury, the 74-year-old man was sent to Kwong Wah Hospital in conscious state. He was certified dead at 10.06am yesterday (March 18).

     District Crime Squad of Mong Kok District took over the case. Police arrested the 75-year-old man for manslaughter in Mong Kok yesterday. The arrested man is being detained for enquiries.

     Post-mortem examinations will be conducted later to ascertain the cause of death of the deceased.

     Active investigation by the District Crime Squad of Mong Kok District is underway.

     Police are investigating a manslaughter case happened in Central today (July 30) in which a 40-year-old local man died.



     At 1.27am, Police received a report from a staff of hotel on Hollywood Road that a 40-year-old man was lying unconscious in a hotel room.



     Police officers sped to the scene and found the 40-year-old man lying unconscious in the bathroom. Sustaining no superficial injury, he was certified dead at scene.



     A small quantity of suspected drugs in suspected connection with the case was seized.



     Police arrested a 38-year-old foreign man in suspected connection with the case for manslaughter at the aforesaid location. A 44-year-old local man in suspected connection with the case was later arrested for manslaughter in Aberdeen. Both arrestees are being detained for enquiries.



     Post-mortem examinations will be conducted later to ascertain the cause of death of the deceased.



     Active investigation by the District Crime Squad of Central District is underway.

Hong Kong – Manslaughter and suicide in Tai Po

     Police are investigating a manslaughter and suicide case in Tai Po yesterday (January 23) in which a 31-year-old man and his 62-year-old mother died.



     About 3.40am yesterday, Police received a report that a fire broke out from a unit on On Po Lane and dense smoke was seen. It was also reported that a man was found collapsed on the podium of a building on On Po Lane, who was suspected to have fallen from height.



     Police officers sped to the scene and located the 31-year-old man. Sustaining serious head injuries, he was certified dead at scene. Firemen later forcibly opened the door to enter the unit and put out the fire, a 62-year-old woman was found collapsed inside the bedroom. Sustaining serious hand injuries, the woman was sent to Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital in unconscious state and later certified dead at 4.48am.



     Initial investigation revealed that the man had suspectedly attempted to commit suicide and set fire in the unit before falling.



     Post-mortem examinations will be conducted later to ascertain the cause of their deaths.



     Active investigation by the District Crime Squad of Tai Po is underway.



     Around 250 residents were self-evacuated to places of safety in the incident.
