Electro Standards Pathway® Model 4511 USB Type-A 5 to 1 Switch with Remote Control and No Enclosure, Ready for Installation

The highly skilled design engineers of Electro Standards Laboratories announce the release of the Pathway Model 4511 USB 2.0 Type-A A/B/C/D/E Switch with RS232 Remote Control. This switch is comprised of boards, cables, connectors, and a strain relief bracket, ready for installation on a panel or other similar situation. It is not enclosed in any additional desktop configuration, leading to a uniquely easy installment and quick connection. The remote control access of the switch can be utilized through ASCII RS232 commands. It may also be controlled manually through its front panel pushbuttons. The current switch position and power status can be viewed on the front panel LED display or monitored via the REMOTE port.

This Model 4511 has the uniquely distinct feature of permitting connection to any one of five USB Type-A devices from one COMMON device. No disconnection of cables is necessary and the switcher is ideal for connecting a computer to multiple USB devices at one time. It is compatible with all Hi-Speed USB 2.0 devices, making it perfect for the sharing of a printer, scanner, or external storage drive with a computer. All 4 pins of the USB interface are switched via break-before-make electromechanical relays and the switch is able to maintain its position through times of power loss, continuing to pass data. When turned off, the switch powers back up in its last known position.

The Remote RS232 ASCII commands of the Model 4511 allow the user to control the switch position, lockout front panel operations, and obtain switch status. It also permits users to query firmware version number, query serial number, and enable or disable auto sending of switch positions. The DB9 connector on the rear panel of the switch accepts ASCII RS232 Serial Data for these Remote Control operation abilities.

The Model 4511 possesses a UL certified 100VAC-240VAC, 50Hz-60Hz wall mount power module included with the unit supplies 12 VDC, 500 mA to the unit. It has a 2-prong, US, non-polarized plug so there is a wide range power option available in place of the standard power module. This feature makes the switch ideal for any international applications.

Electro Standards Labs SCups® and HPMU Utilize Super Capacitors to Assist with Fluctuating Power of Wind, Wave, or Solar Renewable Energy Systems

The highly skilled engineers and scientists of Electro Standards Laboratories have successfully designed an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) device that utilizes Super Capacitors to assist with power fluctuations in remote locations, such as with Wind, Solar, Wave or other Renewable Energy Systems. This device can be utilized in the form of a desktop or a board unit.

These UPS devices known as SCups® utilize Super Capacitors for energy storage, rather than typical battery backup systems. Super Capacitors are preferred because they provide a very low maintenance solution with an extremely high cycle life and without the shelf life concerns of typical battery backup systems. The SCups® SuperCapacitor UPS assists with the fluctuating power of low power remote systems where primary power can be interrupted. Typical applications include intermittent grid power or renewable energy systems such as solar, wind or wave power systems. The SCups® units are available in both desktop configuration and board-only configurations that can be conveniently integrated into user equipment or supplied in a standalone package.

Electro Standards Laboratories (ESL), Cranston, RI, has expanded its Super Capacitor Uninterruptible Power Supply line to include Models 1023, 1024, 1026, and 1027. The SCups® units are designed to provide backup DC power to nominal 12VDC and 24VDC systems if the primary power supply is interrupted. These units automatically detect loss of primary power, at which time DC power is then supplied from the SCups®. Once primary power is restored, it is routed to the load and used to recharge the Super Capacitor in the SCups.

The addition of the ES Labs new Model 1041 Hybrid Power Management Unit (HPMU) is another design inspired by these SCups® units as it combines the strength of a high-power capacitor and a high energy battery together. A power management board integrates the two energy-storage devices in the Model 1041 and provides the user with a lightweight, high performance, and safe power source. This hybrid technology greatly benefits pulsed power load systems that are typically supported by “battery-only” systems. This hybrid HPMU model is particularly applicable to portable communication devices.

Electro Standards Now Accepts Government P-Card for Micro Purchase Contracts & GSA Schedule Products

Electro Standards Laboratories, a US electronics manufacturer located in Cranston, RI, now accepts P-Card as payment for government Micro Purchase Contracts. ESL now allows Government Purchase Card Holders to make purchases for electronic communication products such as network switches, interface converters and cable assemblies using these cards. In addition, Electro Standards also provides TAA Compliant products through GSA Schedule Contract GS35F0286V. Hundreds of data communication switches and fiber optic switches are available through the GSA Schedule and can now be purchased online through P-Cards.

As a GSA Schedule vendor, ESL provides TAA Compliant data communication products such as AB computer network switches, including Fiber Optic and USB. These switch boxes support a variety of communication switching applications such as video/audio surveillance, transportation/traffic control, as well as industrial automation and robotics with computer peripheral switching control for devices such as pc’s, printers, cameras, microphones, video screens, etc. As a GSA vendor, ESL can provide these products directly to federal, state and local government agencies, entities and programs. The acceptance of P-Card as payment for these products further facilitates the purchasing process for government agencies, entities and programs.

The GSA schedule program streamlines the procurement process to help government agencies concentrate on the task at hand – controlling and protecting their data by providing a fallback switch solution to reroute data (audio, video, etc.) in the event of an outage or remotely control a switch to take the network completely offline in the event of a network attack.

Federal, State, and local agencies can obtain information about ESL’s GSA Schedule GS35F0286V on the GSA Advantage website or by contacting ESL directly at 401-943-1164 or online chat www.electrostandards.com.
