Dennis has been a member of ASA since 1996. He has demonstrated exemplary leadership in various roles within ASA, including serving on ASA’s discipline education and board of examiners subcommittees, as well as on ASA’s governmental relations committee.

Outside of his leadership within ASA, Dennis is Senior Managing Director, Head of North America Equipment Finance at Gordon Brothers. He is responsible for the equipment finance business which supports companies facing liquidity challenges resulting from operational challenges and/or market dislocations across a range of industries, including construction, mining, energy, marine, rail and aviation that traditional lenders cannot or do not support.

Dennis has over 30 years of experience in industrial machinery and equipment valuation and inventory management. He brings extensive equipment finance experience, including equipment and portfolio management strategies, remarketing, product development and business strategy and execution. Dennis has managed diverse equipment management and workout teams and restructuring, remediation and liquidation processes. Dennis also serves on the Equipment Lease and Finance Association’s equipment management committee.

Before joining Gordon Brothers, Dennis was senior vice president and head of the equipment management group at Wells Fargo Equipment Finance. Previously, he was senior vice president and remarketing manager for Bank of America Leasing.

Dennis Schlemmer Installed as National President of Sons and Daughters of the Vietnam War

 The Sons and Daughters of the Vietnam War proudly announces the installation of Dennis Schlemmer as its National President, effective May 2, 2024. Hailing from Taylor, Michigan, Schlemmer assumes the prestigious role as the second national president of the esteemed organization.

Schlemmer’s connection to the Vietnam War runs deep; he joined the organization through the war service of his father, Dennis C. Schlemmer, who served with the U.S. Army 864th Engineer Battalion from 1968-1970. This personal connection fuels his passion for honoring the sacrifices made by those who served during this tumultuous period in history.

Founded in 2021 as a special project through the National Vietnam War Museum in Weatherford, Texas, the Sons and Daughters of the Vietnam War has rapidly grown to become a vital institution dedicated to honoring the legacies of those who served in the Vietnam War. The organization’s mission encompasses historical, patriotic, and non-political initiatives, with a focus on fostering community, providing support, and advocating for its members.

Outgoing president Katee Girling of St. Paul, MN will transition to the position of National Junior Past President, bringing her valuable leadership and experience to continue guiding the organization’s vision.

In his new role, Schlemmer will spearhead the organization’s efforts to maintain and uphold memorials honoring the Vietnam War, as well as to educate and inform individuals seeking insight into this pivotal period of history. Additionally, he will collaborate closely with The National Vietnam War Museum to promote understanding and appreciation of the Vietnam War for generations to come.

Dennis Jung was born in the small German-speaking community of Fredericksburg, Texas, in 1947. He had the good fortune of having a bibliophile mother who fostered in him a love of stories and reading. Dennis began writing short stories in grade school and continued writing as a hobby in college. After receiving a BA in Anthropology at the University of Texas at Austin, he spent two years as a Military Police Lieutenant in Germany. He was introduced to the joys of travel.

He later earned an undergraduate degree in nursing from the University of Texas and received advanced training as a pediatric nurse practitioner. During a subsequent stint traveling the Pacific and Asia, during which he volunteered in the Marshall Islands, he began writing in earners. First, there were the travelogues he sent home to family and friends who encouraged him.

He and his wife later settled in Honolulu, where he received a Masters Degree in Nursing from the University of Hawaii and taught there in the graduate program for a brief time. He began writing novel-length stories after resettling in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He has just completed his tenth novel in as many years. He still resides in Santa Fe and is working on his next book.
