Flights from Bengaluru to Bidar and Kalaburagi are set to resume from June 1 and June 10, respectively, Infrastructure Development Minister MB Patil announced on Friday.

Patil confirmed that Star Air will operate flights on the Bengaluru–Bidar–Bengaluru and Bengaluru–Kalaburagi–Bengaluru sectors. The State government is extending viability gap funding of ₹28.47 crore to support the operations, he said.

Flight services to Kalaburagi have remained suspended since October 15, 2025, while services to Bidar were halted on April 16, 2026, owing to low passenger occupancy. The routes were launched under the UDAN regional connectivity scheme, with services to Kalaburagi commencing in 2019 and Bidar in 2022.

The Minister said the government is committed to enhancing air connectivity to Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities across the State. Such initiatives will not only accelerate regional economic growth but also contribute to infrastructure development, he noted.

Taking into account the growth of industry, education, tourism, agriculture and commercial activity in the Kalyana Karnataka region, the Government has decided to revive the services under the regional air connectivity initiative, he added.
