British death metal pioneers Carcass will return to India to headline the 14th edition of Bangalore Open Air (BOA) on Oct. 10, 2026. The metal festival also marks the India debut for U.K. doom legends Paradise Lost, Australian deathcore act Thy Art Is Murder, veteran Norwegian metal band 1349, Brazil-origin thrash metallers Nervosa and the return of German post-metal/prog band The Ocean.

Indian acts rounding out the lineup include folk-metallers The Down Troddence, who just launched their new album As You All Know, This Is How It Is (AYAYTIHIS) and Mumbai prog/sludge band Midhaven, who are coming in after their debut Europe tour.

Carcass, known for their incisive brand of intense death metal, are back in India a decade after they made their India debut at BIG69 Festival in Mumbai in January 2015. The Ocean, for their part, are returning for thirds – first performing at a club show in 2014, then touring five cities in 2019.

Paradise Lost’s India debut marks one of the first times a doom band is bringing the atmospheric and death metal-inspired style of heavy music to the country. Formed in 1988, the band behind songs like “Say Just Words,” “Erased” and “No Hope In Sight” arrive at Bangalore Open Air after releasing their 17th album, Ascension, in 2025.

Representing the more modern death metal side of things at BOA are Thy Art Is Murder, known for songs like “Holy War,” “Reign of Darkness” and “Puppet Master” across six albums. The band most recently released their album Godlike in 2023.

The festival announced the news on May 14, and said in a post about its globe-spanning lineup, “Six countries. The strongest line-up BOA has ever assembled — on the biggest production we’ve ever staged.14 years of building India’s home for heavy music. This is the one we’ve been working towards.”

Tickets for Bangalore Open Air, priced from ₹5,499 onwards, are on sale via BookMyShow.
