The Electronics and Information Technology Ministry on Wednesday(October 22, 2025 )proposed compulsory disclosure and labelling of expert system(AI )-created “artificial”material on social networks platforms.
The Ministry launched a draft modification to the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 that needs social networks business to permit users to self-declare if the material they submit is AI-generated. In cases where users stop working to make such statements, platforms need to proactively find and identify AI-generated material.
The statement should cover 10% of the material’s location and uses to all kinds of artificial material, consisting of text, video, and audio, and is not restricted to photorealistic material, according to authorities and the draft text.
