The UPZY Gig Worker Survey 2026 was carried out through in-person interviews amongst 4,163 food shipment and quick-commerce riders.

UPZY co-founder and COO Niranjan Seelam said the working day of a gig worker is shaped by movement and there is no conventional workplace where a rider can stop for a meal, use a restroom or deal with an everyday need between orders.

The report further revealed that about 72 per cent of respondents said they live away from their families in shared accommodation with friends or in hostels.
