Specialist fined for offense of security legislation

Dragages Hong Kong Limited was fined $154,800 at the Kwun Tong Magistrates’ Courts today (May 18) for breaching the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance, the Factories and Industrial Undertakings (Lifting Appliances and Lifting Gear) Regulations, the Construction Sites (Safety) Regulations and the Factories and Industrial Undertakings (Safety Management) Regulation. The prosecutions were released by the Labour Department.
The case included a deadly mishap that happened on November 10, 2023, at a building website in Tung Chung, Lantau Island. Throughout a lifting operation of a metal fin for external wall setup work, the metal fin fell and struck a worker who was strolling below the work position. The worker sustained severe injuries and died on the exact same day.
