Hong Kong Customs takes arapaimas of presumed set up threatened types (with pictures)

Hong Kong Customs today (April 29) identified a threatened types smuggling case including a cross-boundary personal automobile at the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB) Hong Kong Port and took 1 366 live arapaimas of believed set up threatened types, with an overall projected market price of about $100,000.
Customizeds obstructed an outbound personal automobile at the HZMB Hong Kong Port today. Upon evaluation, Customs officers discovered a batch of live arapaimas of thought set up threatened types positioned in the boot and the middle row of the automobile. A 26-year-old male motorist was apprehended. The case was turned over to the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) for follow-up action.
The male chauffeur has actually been charged by the AFCD with one count of unlawful export of an Appendix II types. The case will be raised at the West Kowloon Magistrates’ Courts tomorrow (April 30).

Under the Protection of Endangered Species of Animals and Plants Ordinance, anyone importing, exporting or having specimens of threatened types not in accordance with the Ordinance devotes an offense and will be responsible to an optimum fine of $10 million and jail time for 10 years upon conviction with the specimens surrendered.
