France stated Friday that Russia, Saudi Arabia and India, in addition to numerous emerging economies, were the primary challenges to a COP30 offer on phasing out nonrenewable fuel sources.

“Who are the biggest blockers? We all know them. They are the oil-producing countries, of course. Russia, India, Saudi Arabia. But they are joined by many emerging countries,” French environmental shift minister Monique Barbut informed AFP.

German Environment Minister Carsten Schneider stated the current draft offer revealed by COP30 host Brazil “cannot remain as it is” and alerted that “negotiations will be tough” on the last day of the UN environment talks in Belem, Brazil.
