The Karnataka High Court has actually reserved the election of Congress lawmaker K.Y. Nanjegowda, representing the Malur constituency in Kolar district, purchasing a recount of votes surveyed in the 2023 Assembly elections.
The decision originated from a bench led by Justice R. Devadas, which was hearing an election petition submitted by BJP’s K.S. Manjunath Gowda, who had actually lost to Nanjegowda. The petition declared abnormalities throughout the counting procedure.
After almost 2 years of procedures, the court ruled in favour of a recount and stated Nanjegowda’s election void. Acting on a plea by Nanjegowda’s counsel, the High Court has actually put its own order on hold for 30 days.
This interim relief enables the Congress MLA to move the Supreme Court. If the peak court does not step in within that duration, his seat will stand left.
