Strong storms on Sunday afternoon resulted in unexpected and heavy flooding throughout Houston in Texas and close-by locations. The National Weather Service released a flash flood caution as downpour changed streets and underpasses into rivers.

Doppler radar and weather condition instruments determined almost 4 inches of rains, with the heaviest build-up near Pecan Park. Forecasters warned that an extra 2 inches might fall later on in the day, possibly aggravating conditions.

Advised Stories

Water levels started to increase in low-lying locations, little creeks, underpasses, and property streets. The flooding likewise infected significant highways and hectic city roadways, making travel exceptionally dangerous. Authorities cautioned that metropolitan flooding was anticipated to continue a number of parts of the city.

Locations such as Pasadena, Pearland, Deer Park, South Houston, Bellaire, West University Place, Galena Park, Jacinto City, and areas closer to downtown, such as Greater Eastwood, Near Northside, Midtown, and Fourth Ward, remain at a greater threat.

Numerous videos readily available online on social networks revealed individuals having a hard time to move through deep water in South Houston. In one video, individuals might be seen wading towards greater ground after an SUV stalled in increasing floodwaters.

Another clip from an underpass at Interstate 45 and Wayside Drive revealed 2 automobiles nearly entirely immersed.

The National Weather Service encouraged locals to keep away from flooded roadways and not to try driving through deep water, warning that conditions might get worse if the rains continues.
