Kathua Cloudburst, Landslide: Amit Shah Assures Support After Talks With J&K LG, CM
Home Minister talks to J&K LG Manoj Sinha and CM Omar Abdullah as rescue groups hurry to impacted locations
A minimum of 7 individuals&were eliminated and 5 hurt in cloudburst and landslide occurrences in Kathua, with Amit Shah ensuring complete Centre assistance to J&K.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday spoke with Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on the cloudburst in Kathua and ensured all assistance from the Centre.At least 7 individuals were eliminated and 5 others hurt in 2 different occurrences of cloudburst and landslide in Kathua district early Sunday.
“Spoke with the Lieutenant Governor and Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir regarding the cloudburst in Kathua. Relief and rescue operations are being carried out by the local administration and NDRF teams have also been rushed to the site. Assured every support from the Modi government. We stand firmly behind our sisters and brothers of J&K,” Shah composed on X. The disaster struck Jodh Ghati town of Rajbagh and Janglote amidst heavy over night rains in the district.
The cloudburst in Kathua came 3 days after flash floods activated by cloudburst struck Chisoti town in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir on August 14, leaving 60 individuals dead and more than 100 hurt. Far, 82 individuals 81 pilgrims and one from the CISF are reported missing out on after the floods struck the town in Kishtwar.
