KOLKATA: Bottled competition within Trinamool Congress imploded in amazing style Monday, with the celebration’s Lok Sabha primary whip Kalyan Banerjee resigning after a public bout of name-calling with fellow MP Mahua Moitra that eclipsed the visit of Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee’s nephew Abhishek Banerjee as the brand-new LS leader. The choice to have Diamond Harbour MP Abhishek change ailing celebration veteran Sudip Bandyopadhyay as TMC’s Lok Sabha face came at a 15-minute conference including Mamata and the celebration’s 41 parliamentarians.Sources stated Mamata seized the day to check off “two to three MPs” for apparently staining TMC’s image, stating the “party’s interest is above everything”Serampore MP Kalyan, currently sulking after a nasty exchange with Krishnanagar MP Mahua over the latter apparently mentioning him in a television interview as “a pig”stepped down as primary whip when the hybrid conference ended.
Kalyan, a legal representative by training, stated he got a call from Abhishek within minutes of his resignation, triggering him to wait up until Thursday “to speak on this further”Mahua’s supposed remarks about her coworker were made on Sunday in action to an India Today job interviewer asking her about Kalyan’s “deeply problematic” project versus a lady CPM prospect (Dipsita Dhar) objecting to the 2024 LS surveys.“You do not wrestle with a pig because the pig likes it and you get dirty,” Mahua reacted.
“That has been my outlook on this whole thing. But, like I said, there are deeply misogynistic, sexually frustrated, depraved men in India, and obviously, they have their representation in Parliament. And that is across all parties.”Kalyan reacted Monday by blaming Mahua’s “insecurity” for her profusions on television. “When a public representative stoops to name-calling and coarse innuendo, it reflects not strength but insecurity…Labelling
a male colleague ‘sexually frustrated’ is not boldness, it is abuse. If such language were directed at a woman, there would be outrage, and rightly so,” he stated. At the conference with celebration MPs, which Kalyan participated in essentially from Delhi, the CM supposedly “referred to lack of coordination among LS MPs”
“It was a task I was assigned to manage. It reflects my failure. There are MPs who come dressed up and leave Parliament at 11am. But since I am to blame, I take responsibility,” he stated while revealing his choice to stop the primary whip’s post.
