Authors Biography

Carl Vincent LaGrotteria Sr. is an American author and a veteran who has dedicated his life to doing good. Born on February 26, 1948, in Long Branch, New Jersey, Carl lived there until July 15, 1971. He grew up in a supportive but underprivileged family of mixed Italian and Irish descent. Despite suffering from childhood illnesses, injuries, and family traumas, Carl always offered help.

After graduating from Long Branch High School in 1966, Carl attended Trenton State Teachers College, intending to become a math teacher. However, he dropped out in November 1968 due to his dislike for school and his love for partying. Carl worked hard at several jobs, which taught him valuable life lessons. However, he also indulged in drinking, fights, and robberies while hanging out with an unsavory crowd.
In August 1969, he was drafted into the United States Army. Given his familys strong tradition of serving, he never considered shirking his duty to his country. Unfortunately, he was seriously wounded in March 1971, losing both legs above the knee and suffering multiple other serious injuries. After therapy and graduation from Boston University as Valedictorian, Carl and his first wife, Nancy, moved back to Jersey. Despite suffering from PTSD, Carl continued his work in the community.

Now at 74 (soon to be 75), Carl has accomplished most of his lifes goals and is still active in the community. He is married to his second wife and has four children, two of whom are stepchildren and seven wonderful grandchildren. Carls amazing brother-in-law, Frank Taddeo, urged him to write his autobiography, and after several requests, Carl agreed. His autobiography details his experiences, including his struggles, victories, and unwavering commitment.
