LCSD to set up Olympics Live Zone

     To support Hong Kong athletes taking part in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) will set up Olympics Live Zone at designated sports centres in 18 districts to broadcast the Games’ competitions, allowing members of the public to experience the excitement of this spectacular sports event and cheer for Hong Kong athletes participating in the Games.
      
     On the opening day of the Olympic Games on July 23, a launch-out event for Olympics Live Zone will be held at 5pm at Kowloon Park Sports Centre. Apart from the programmes of sports demonstration and play-in on the event day, Hong Kong athletes will share sports knowledge with members of the public and show support for the athletes participating in the Games. Details will be announced later. Olympics Live Zone at the other venues will also be open from the evening of July 23.
      
     The opening hours for all Olympics Live Zone between July 24 and August 8 will be from 8am to 11pm. Members of the public are welcome to visit and watch the live broadcast and highlights of competitions. Exhibition panels featuring Hong Kong athletes in Olympic Games will also be displayed at the venues. Locations of the Olympics Live Zone are set out at Annex.
      
     Besides, a series of Learning Sports 101 videos had been uploaded in LCSD Edutainment Channel. The videos featured introduction and demonstration of sports skills by elite athletes, including Olympic sports distance run, tennis, basketball, golf, badminton, volleyball, rugby, table tennis, football and swimming, as well as non-Olympic sports squash, dancesport and hiking. During the Olympic Games, videos of other sports like fencing, karate will be released in phases. The videos aim to encourage the public to take part in sports while having fun in watching Olympics events.
