One of Zaffar Khan’s companies is Cocoon Group. Through the NDIS, the Cocoon Group will be providing more than 100 custom-designed homes for people living with disabilities across South Australia. Operating under Horizon SolSolutions Australia Pty Ltd, the houses will be built and rolled out by Cocoon Group in the next three years.

A total of 60 homes will be completed at the end of this year, and a further 62 will be standing by December 2022. It’s the largest project of it’s kind since the launch of NDIS in Australia, and Zaffar Khan is proud to be leading the way.

Construction on the first four-bedroom house in Encounter Bay has already started, and there will also be three and five-bedroom homes available. This initiative is part of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), with the main benefit being providing much needed housing for those with disabilities. The houses will be located within the communities of South Australia to prevent scheme members being displaced from their family and friends.

In addition, this project will create employment opportunities for more than 500 people across the state.

Cocoon Group’s NDIS Services branch is an approved NDIS accommodation provider. The Cocoon Group has an abundance of experience in the industry and was established in 2013 to build retirement and nursing homes for the aged.

Since the rollout of the NDIS, the company has continued to construct an extensive range of specialist disability accommodation (SDA) and supported independent living (SIL) housing around the country. At the helm of Cocoon Group is executive chairman Zaffar Khan, who aims to build high-quality houses for people with disabilities, including electronically controlled windows and blinds, wheelchair access and fully equipped for Smart technology.

Zaffar Khan is no stranger to hard work and being the pillar of the community and is known as an author, speaker, mentor and businessman as well as the president of the Rotary Club of Archerfield and part of the Fred Hollows Foundation. He has written 36 books that tackle the subjects of personal and business development while 22 have already been printed.

Under his leadership, each custom-home will also feature a room for a carer with an en-suite. The Group’s management team and housing coordinator assist in the process of matching scheme participants for the houses while the Group’s in-house designer, staff and builders in all states across the country are involved in the houses’ inspections. The homes are located near all amenities, including medical precincts, transport and business hubs in both regional and metropolitan areas.
