About an hour after my departure from Annapolis Royal after a lovely drive alongside the shoreline of the Annapolis Basin and thru the early fall colors of the Bear River Valley, (also called “Little Switzerland”. I arrived on the Bear River First Nation Heritage and Cultural Centre. I used to be greeted by Wanda Joudry-Finigan and Robert (Robbie) McEwan, whereas Frederick Harlow was manning the money register. All are members of the Bear River First Nation, and Wanda and Robbie proceeded to have fun my arrival with a particular welcome track.Wanda defined that the track invitations our mutual family members, grandfathers and ancestors to hitch us at this event. The foyer of the Centre holds numerous artifacts and a Heritage Gallery that pays homage to present and former Chiefs and Elders of the Bear River First Nation. Wanda identified current Chief Frank Meuse Junior who additionally operates a lodge for adults and youth alike who want to be taught concerning the Mi’kmaq tradition. One other picture was of Agnes Potter, a celebrated chief and revered Elder of the Bear River First Nation.
