The Infinity School’s Workshop on Conscious Parenting: Paving The Foundation To Our Child’s Future

The Infinity School, a CBSE school in Greater Noida West, conducted a session for parents on ‘The Art Of Conscious Parenting’ at their campus on 11th May 2019 at 10:30 AM. The workshop was delivered by acclaimed counselling psychologist Ms. Abha Kohli on understanding children and how we can help them.
Nurturing children involves understanding the varied cues given by children through their day-to-day narratives and helping them transit from their childhood to adulthood in a way they grow up to be confident, independent and positive individuals. Being a conscious parent isn’t easy in today’s world, amidst social expectations, judgements and labelling.
It calls for self-awareness, and embracing the changes, gaps, and differences in parenting, occurring over the last few years.
Ms. Kohli provided insights on how children communicate and what do parents need to be observant about. She also shared some parenting approaches, with a special emphasis on creative child engagement strategies, screen-time management and helped attendees understand the intricate dynamics of the child-parent relationship.
While the parents were busy decoding their child’s personality strengths, interests and aptitude, little ones were mesmerised in Ms. Rituparna Ghosh’s dynamic storytelling session. The session aimed to invoke the natural curiosity in children towards reading and create excitement by nurturing all their senses through stories.
Reading is an important and quite complicated language skill that is important for every child to learn in order to succeed in life. Through reading, we engage children in imagination, comprehension of complex situations and can teach writing, speaking, vocabulary items, grammar, spelling along with other aspects of any language. Stories can be an interesting way to encourage reading among children.
Both story-listening and story-reading involve using one’s imagination to create impressions, strengthen visualisations and develop thinking capacities in children.
While the parenting workshop was held in the capacious seminar hall downstairs, the storytelling session was held in a spacious and welcoming 2-story library—one of the most appealing areas in The Infinity School, a school that constantly stresses on the importance of developing reading and comprehension skills in students at an early age.
