In the lead up to the quadrennial sporting spectacle, Viacom18, the official broadcast and digital partner for Paris 2024, also launched “Dum Laga Ke…Haisha!”, its campaign film for the Olympic Games. The campaign film builds on the philosophy of Olympics unlike anything seen before, breaking away from the conventional advertising template employed by past global sporting events for the Indian market such as tropes of serious looking athletes training to motivational voiceovers. It takes a fresh approach instead, by intertwining the magnitude of the Olympics as a global movement and its impact on our daily Indian lives.

We wanted to keep the campaign idea rooted in the transformative power of viewing sports.  The film is our ode to the Olympic spirit and imagines a world where watching the Olympics vicariously, inspires us to push ourselves like runners, boxers, gymnasts, archers and weightlifters in our quotidian lives. We married this idea with a re-imagination of the timeless chant ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha! that’s deeply ingrained in the Indian spirit of movement and sports, into multiple regional languages to ignite excitement for the Olympics across the country,” said JioCinema’s Head of Brand and Creative Marketing, Shagun Seda. “To bring our concept to life, we partnered with Jugaad Motion Pictures who brought in a fresh approach and elevated the concept to a rich audio-visual experience.”

Viacom18’s comprehensive coverage of Paris 2024 includes content around must-watch events for India fans, Indians to watch out for at the Olympics, greatest performances in Olympics history, unprecedented landmarks Indians can achieve at Paris 2024, and much more.

PW student secures AIR 1 in CA Inter; 4 students in Top 50 via online classes

Physics Wallah (PW), India’s leading ed-tech platform’s student bagged All India rank 1 (AIR-1). 19-year-old Kushagra Roy from Bhiwani, Rajasthan who’s the student of PW’s online vertical, CA Wallah has scored 89.67% and achieved AIR-1 in CA Intermediate May 2024 examination. Alongside Kushagra, Rohan Gupta from Haryana achieved AIR-30, Armaan Khan from Seelampur, AIR-48, and Jai Sanjeev Karoshi from Maharashtra secured AIR-49. All four rankers had previously cleared their CA Foundation exams with the guidance of CA Wallah’s online batches.

Born to a father who himself has been a CA-aspirant and continues to dream of clearing this exam, CA Inter May 2024 AIR 1 Kushagra was part of PW’s CA Intermediate Udesh Regular (G1+G2) May 2024 batch. He took PW’s online classes to prepare for this exam; his first attempt; after successfully clearing the Foundation level, for which he prepared through online classes of CA Wallah.

Fulfilling his father’s dream and continuous support from him, he has been Kushagra’s biggest motivation. After the tragic demise of his mother, Late Prem Shila Roy , in 2015, Kushagra’s father has single-handedly brought up both Kushagra and his elder brother, Kushal Kumar Roy; while managing the household chores and financially supporting the entire family.

Expressing his joy, Kushagra said, “I took to preparing at home with Physics Wallah’s (PW) online classes for this year’s CA Inter. My goal was to prepare for the test as much as I could and be ready for the examination. My father’s continuous motivation and support of PW’s classes helped me with an integrated approach building my practice and confidence. Even for CA Foundation, I studied from PW’s online classes and that was enough for me to score 336 out of 400. And today, I can proudly say that online education alone can get you AIR 1.”

Alakh Pandey, Founder and CEO of Physics Wallah (PW), shared his excitement over the results and said, “Our aim has always been to democratize education in India. We believe one shouldn’t just rely on paying hefty fees to get quality education and guidance. Our recent results in NDA, NEET, GATE, and now CA, with students securing All India ranks and even AIR from studying just online, prove that PW is making a significant impact in the lives of students. When I interact with students and hear their stories of achievement—students who didn’t even think of getting an education securing top ranks in competitive exams—I feel the happiest. These results are a testament to the quality of education we provide, and I couldn’t be more thrilled.”

PW’s CA Wallah, launched in October 2022, has already garnered a substantial following, with over 3.6 lakh students on its YouTube platform and over 2.5 lakh students on the PW app. The platform offers CA Foundation and Intermediate courses, taught by the best faculty in India. Weekly online sessions and marathon classes before exams ensure thorough preparation, while practice sheets with text solutions are available on the PW app.

RHI Magnesita seeks policy measures for refractory raw material supply security of India

RHI Magnesita, the Global leader in the manufacturing and supply of refractory products, systems, and solutions, has appealed to the Government of India for strategic policy initiatives to diversify the sourcing of critical refractory grade minerals to ensure raw material supply security for the sustainable growth of the country. This was pressed upon by Gustavo Franco, Chief Customer Officer of the company, during the India-Austria Business Meet held recently as part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the Austrian capital, Vienna. The company has also requested policy measures to restrict the environmentally harmful landfilling of used refractories and to promote recycling, which in turn ensures the availability of secondary raw materials for the industry and contributes towards building a circular economy.

Parmod Sagar, Managing Director and CEO of RHI Magnesita India Ltd. said, “Refractory products and solutions are critical for production of steel, cement, glass, aluminium, energy and all such products that require high temperature manufacturing processes. India, purely for geological reasons, lacks domestic sources for critical raw materials like refractory grade Magnesite and Alumina. With very high import dependency, it is imperative to have a diversified sourcing network for supply security to ensure long term sustainability of the Make in India drive.”

India is already a pioneer in recycling in the refractories sector due to its low reserves of raw materials. However, there is still enormous potential, as thousands of tonnes of used but valuable refractory material is thrown into landfills. Landfilling is not only extremely damaging to the environment, but it also results in the enormous waste of precious raw materials. The company has asked for preventive policy measure on landfilling. This would protect the environment, level up the reuse of important raw materials and push recycling. The entire industry – including the steel industry in India would improve CO2 footprint while ensuring further raw-material security through circular economy solutions.

Parmod reiterated that RHI Magnesita India is fully aligned with PM Modi’s Atmanirbhar Bharat vision and will continue playing a crucial role in India’s growth story. The company has committed approximately 400 mEur (Rs 3600 Cr) of phased investment by FY 2026 to build and modernize its production capacity in India. Out of this, it has spent about 300 mEur in last 2 years in India for building local capacity. It now has more than 500,000 tons of local refractory production capacity in India.
