The other day, Apple revealed the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, which are both powered by the brand-new A20 Pro chip. As typical, the business has applauded its most current and biggest SoC for being much better than all of its predecessors, however how does it in fact carry out in a standard? Fortunately, we have an initial response for that today, considering that 2 brand-new iPhones determining themselves as the iPhone 19,2 and iPhone 19,3 have actually simply run Geekbench 6.7.
Their single-core ratings are 4,719 and 4,612, respectively, while their multi-core ratings are 12,677 and 11,819, respectively. If we balance the single-core ratings we get about 4,665, while for the multi-core ratings we get about 12,248. Compared to approximately the previous generation iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max, the brand-new outcomes represent a 21-23% enhancement in both single-core and multi-core efficiency. That’s certainly strong, particularly thinking about that the A20 Pro is developed on a more power-efficient 2nm procedure too.

The A20 Pro’s CPU frequency increases to 4.93 GHz, and unsurprisingly the brand-new iPhones both have 12GB of RAM. They naturally run iOS 27, which is because of be launched on Monday, September 14.
The upcoming MediaTek Dimensity 9600 has actually handled a single-core rating of 4,139 and a multi-core rating of 13,285 in Geekbench, which puts it a little ahead of the A20 Pro in the latter, however method behind in the previous. All of these outcomes must be taken with an enormous dosage of salt, nevertheless, given that they are all attained by model gadgets.

There are outcomes drifting out there for the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 SoC too, however they’re either on a various variation of Geekbench or clearly too low to be taken seriously. Be cautious when assessing wild claims like “A20 Pro smokes the Android competition” or some such things. Whatever will end up being clearer once the Dimensity 9600 and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 get main later on this month.
