- SpeakX, a leading AI-powered English speaking app helping Indians build confidence in spoken English, today welcomed MS Dhoni, global cricketing icon and former Indian Captain, as an investor in the company. Built around personalised and practical learning, SpeakX uses AI to help learners practise English in situations relevant to their everyday lives, moving beyond conventional lessons towards real-world communication. Dhoni’s investment reflects his belief in the opportunity to build a product that can make confident English communication more accessible to millions of Indians.
India’s growing aspirations are moving beyond its biggest metros and for millions of Indians, spoken English is increasingly becoming part of that journey. From employment opportunities to building businesses and travelling abroad or studying overseas, proficiency in communicative English is opening doors to opportunities that were once harder to access.
It is against this backdrop that MS Dhoni has invested in SpeakX, a platform focused on helping Indians become more confident English speakers through personalised, contextual learning.
Dhoni’s association extends beyond his investment. He is also integrated into the learner experience. Users on the app will be welcomed by Dhoni and encouraged, motivated and celebrated at milestone moments throughout their learning journey.
Launched in 2024, SpeakX’s philosophy is built around putting people in situations, practising, learning from those experiences and seeing growth that mirrors the broader idea of progress through practice. The platform has already reached 1 crore+ learners, with 10 lakh subscribers added in the last six months. The app also saw that 4 in 5 active learners are speaking English in more than 90% of their interactions on the platform, pointing to a shift from simply learning English to actively using it.
Arpit Mittal, CEO & Founder SpeakX, said, “India’s next generation is ambitious, but opportunity should not depend on where you were born, what language was spoken at home or whether you grew up in a city where English was part of everyday life. We built SpeakX to bridge that gap by making confident communication deeply personalised, practical and affordable through AI. Having someone like MS Dhoni, who believes deeply in the problem we are solving and the potential of the brand, choose to invest in SpeakX is a strong validation of that vision. As more Indians from smaller towns and cities step into new opportunities, our ambition is to give them the confidence to take that next step.”
MS Dhoni, Indian cricketer and investor in SpeakX added,“For many Indians, learning English is not about learning another subject. It is about becoming more confident in situations that can change their lives. For many in smaller towns and first-generation learner families, that confidence can be a meaningful step towards social and economic mobility. I strongly resonate with SpeakX’s vision. SpeakX has the potential to make that experience more accessible, relevant and personal, and I am excited to be part of this journey as they build for the next generation of India.”
Dhoni’s decision to invest comes at an important moment for the company. As India’s aspirations continue to expand beyond the biggest metros, SpeakX aims to build the infrastructure for a more confident, communicative India ensuring accessibility in over 16 languages and an expanded world of learning needs — for every profession, workforce and social background so that each learner can learn according to their need and comfort.
