Maureen Crethan Santora started her career in the New York City Public School System in 1967, where she dedicated over 25 years to early childhood education. After taking time off to raise her four children, including her son Christopher, who tragically lost his life as a hero on September 11, 2001, Maureen retired as a staff developer from PS 2, Queens, in July 2001. She authored a book aimed at helping young students understand the impact of that terrible event, with a message about the destructive nature of hatred. Part of the books proceeds support the Christopher A Santora Educational Scholarship Fund, providing scholarships and educational materials to schools.

Patricia Santora Cardona, an Art Major graduate from Queens College, began her teaching career as an Art Teacher in District 30, Queens. She later transferred to the Firefighter Christopher A. Santora Early Childhood School in September 2002, a school named after her heroic brother. Patricia, serving as the illustrator, contributed her talents to the book, aiming to educate children about the events of September 11, 2001.
