LegCo to debate motion on strengthening joint development of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area

The following is issued on behalf of the Legislative Council Secretariat:

     The Legislative Council (LegCo) will hold a meeting on Wednesday (January 17) at 11am in the Chamber of the LegCo Complex. During the meeting, Members will debate a motion on strengthening the joint development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The motion, moved by Ms Yung Hoi-yan, is set out in Appendix 1. Mr Kenneth Leung, Mr Duncan Chiu, Ms Carmen Kan and Mr Chan Yung will move amendments to Ms Yung’s motion.

     Mr Tang Fei will also move a motion on Actively building Hong Kong into an international education hub by formulating a comprehensive strategic development blueprint for Hong Kong’s education. The motion is set out in Appendix 2. Professor William Wong, Mr Stanley Ng, Ms Lillian Kwok, Mr Frankie Yick and Professor Priscilla Leung will move amendments to Mr Tang’s motion.

     Meanwhile, Mr Paul Tse will move a proposed resolution under section 34(4) of the Interpretation and General Clauses Ordinance to extend the period for amending subsidiary legislation. The proposed resolution is set out in Appendix 3.

     On Government Motion, the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development will move a proposed resolution under the Hong Kong Export Credit Insurance Corporation Ordinance to resolve that the contingent liability of the Hong Kong Export Credit Insurance Corporation under contracts of insurance must not at any time exceed the sum of 80,000 million dollars, be approved.

     Members will also ask the Government 22 questions on various policy areas, six of which require oral replies.
