Employee fined for violation of safety legislation

An employee was fined $30,000 at the Kowloon City Magistrates’ Courts today (January 15) for violation of the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance. The prosecution was launched by the Labour Department.
The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on May 16, 2023, at a tunnel construction site in Ho Man Tin. While a worker was carrying out preparation work for towing an elevating work platform (EWP) with the help of a forklift truck, the forklift truck suddenly moved and trapped the worker between the forklift truck and the EWP. The worker sustained serious injuries and passed away on the same day.
