Johnson uses real-life stories to create a tapestry ranging from listing symptoms of sexual abuse to how to respond with compassion. Barbara Sinor, Ph.D., author of Gifts From the Child Within and An Inspirational Guide for the Recovering Soul

Many people know that child sex abuse has become a serious problem, but how many people are aware that its not just the children themselves who suffer?

For Kim D. Johnson, there still seems to be a lack of awareness of how accounts of molestation also affect the mothers of victims. This becomes even more problematic when mothers are also one of the few people close to molestation incidents (many unaware) and are undoubtedly sharing the trauma after the damage has been done.

The experiences undoubtedly flood these unfortunate mothers with a host of mental health struggles. There is the stress and anxiety of wanting to heal their wounded children. There is immense guilt and shame from the failure to protect them. These women needed much help, healing, and support right next to their own children.

Thats why Johnson, a licensed clinical social worker, recently came out with Mothers of Molestation Survivors that not only supports these mothers but also shares their stories.

The book is essentially divided into two halves. One represents the types of mothers who respond badly to the trauma (such as Overprotective, Unprotective, or even Co-Perpetrator). The other half represents motherhood models of healthier approaches (such as being Educated, Resourceful and Spiritual).

The book also dedicates a section to debunking myths about child sexual abuse in relation to mothers. Rather than a tone of blame-n-shame, Johnson wants her book to immediately present a list of effective actions that mothers of victims can take.
