Tom Carani has been named the Manager of Customer Success for Catholic Faith Technologies, a Nelnet company.

In this position, Carani will be responsible for customer success at the diocesan, parish, and school levels, and for the wider goal of growth of CFT products.

For the past year, Carani held the position of Customer Success Specialist where he had hands-on experience in mentoring and collaborating with CFT partners and customers, and cross-training in marketing for a broader knowledge base. His background includes experience at a mega parish in Houston and most recently in adult formation and community-wide evangelization at a parish in Austin. This “inside the parish” understanding is invaluable in helping CFT to craft initiatives for our partner parishes, dioceses, and schools. He is passionate about diversity in the church and serving the community.

Carani says, “This is a critical year for our clients and partners. The pandemic has forced pivots to technology that are unfamiliar and uncomfortable for some people. Support is more important than ever, so we have ramped up CFT online support resources and all support functions. This allows us to be proactive in serving rather than just responding to issues. Beyond the actual service, I look forward to helping our clients leverage technology to fulfill their mission of evangelization, creating missionary disciples, and share the gospel in their communities.”

CFT President, Jay Breeden comments, “I may be biased because Tom and I both received degrees from Notre Dame. He has a strong theological education and depth of knowledge that only someone working in the parish environment can bring. When those two skillsets are combined with his passion for our faith and his technology expertise, it’s a winning combination for CFT clients and team members.”

Tom graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Theology and Religious Studies from The Catholic University of America in Washington D.C., then went on to get his master’s degree in Theology from Notre Dame’s McGrath Institute for Church Life. Tom and his wife Emily have a two-year-old daughter and are expecting another child later this summer. They moved back to Kansas City and his Midwest roots to join CFT, where through technology, he can best serve the Catholic faith he loves.
