Japan – NTT DOCOMO and SK Telecom Release White Papers on Green Mobile Networks and 6G Requirements

NTT DOCOMO, INC. and Korean telecommunication operator SK Telecom (SKT) today announced their joint release of two white papers on energy-efficient 5G mobile networks and related technologies, as well as requirements for future 6G networks.
The release of the white papers is the first outcome of a basic agreement that NTT DOCOMO and SKT signed last November to explore opportunities for technical collaboration on next-generation telecommunication infrastructure technologies for 5G Evolution and 6G.

Regarding energy-efficient 5G mobile networks, the white paper reviews the following:

– Possibilities to achieve greater energy savings based on energy consumption levels measured in the two companies’ respective base stations
– Technical analysis of candidate energy-saving technologies, including both hardware and software
– The roles that operators and equipment vendors should play, including the need for greater coordination, in the effort to achieve greater energy savings

For 6G, the paper reviews requirements and challenges including specific performance levels and implementation scenarios, focusing on technical issues of particular importance to mobile operators:

– Performance requirements and implementation scenarios for each frequency band, taking into account the characteristics of each frequency
– Issues concerning coverage and devices in high-frequency bands
– Standardization for migration to 6G architecture and application of cloud-native / open architecture

Going forward, NTT DOCOMO and SKT will continue to collaborate in various technical fields, aiming to enhance the competitiveness and operational efficiency of 5G as well as support the global standardization and technical verification of 6G. They will also collaborate with global telecom operators on 6G standardization and R&D with the goal of building a global ecosystem that encompasses advanced industries and technologies.

“The white papers carry a significant meaning as they mark the first tangible result since entering into a strategic partnership with NTT DOCOMO last year,” said Yu Takki, Vice President and Head of Infra Tech Office of SKT. “Based on our experience and knowhow in 5G, we will continue to collaborate with world-leading operators such as NTT DOCOMO to lead 5G evolution towards 6G.”

Takehiro Nakamura, Chief Technology Architect, NTT DOCOMO, said: “We are delighted to jointly announce two white papers on green mobile networks and 6G requirements as our collaborative achievements with SKT started in November 2022. We will continue to enhance cooperation among the two major Asian mobile operators and promote superior concepts and innovative technologies to the world for the 6G deployment.”

NTT DOCOMO, Japan’s leading mobile operator with over 86 million subscriptions, is one of the world’s foremost contributors to 3G, 4G and 5G mobile network technologies. Beyond core communications services, DOCOMO is challenging new frontiers in collaboration with a growing number of entities (“+d” partners), creating exciting and convenient value-added services that change the way people live and work. Allot Ltd. (NASDAQ: ALLT) (TASE: ALLT), a leading global provider of innovative network intelligence and security-as-a-service (SECaaS) solutions for communication service providers (CSPs) and enterprises, announced that Ethio Telecom in Ethiopia has selected the Allot SmartTraffic QoE solution. SmartTraffic QoE, which provides comprehensive network traffic analytics, plus flexible, granular and precise real-time bandwidth and congestion management. The field offices of DoT i.e. Offices of Principal Controllers of Communication Accounts (Pr. CCA) and Controllers of Communication Accounts (CCA), carrying out the deduction verification work since 2006-07, have been directed to ensure compliance with the SOP. This SOP will be applicable for deduction verification process pertaining to FY 2021-22 onwards, except for the provisions where date of applicability is expressly mentioned.

The objectives of this SOP are to facilitate and ensure:

  1. Efficient and timely processing of deduction claims
  2. Consistency & Uniformity across verifying authorities
  3. Transparency and accountability of verifying authorities
  4. Reduction of department-industry disputes and litigation
  5. Revenue assurance by standardising admissibility/inadmissibility of claims

Overall, the DVR SOP codifies the orders/guidelines covering the deduction verification regime in a single document and also has multiple provisions for overall improvement of Deduction verification processing, through new elements such as :

· Crystallizing of verification regime for non-Access licenses such as NLD/ILD and VNOs

· Simplifying TDS verification process

· Stress on timely completion of Provisional Quarterly DVR with prescribed timelines

· Fixing clear Verification/Reviewing Authorities within O/o Pr. CCA/CCAs

· Prescribing well-defined Timelines for completion of Annual DVR process

Also, DoT has launched new revenue management system from FY 2020-21-SARAS (System for Assessment of LF Revenue & SUC) to ease, standardise and digitise all aspects of telecom finance compliance, including submission of AGR Statements/Deduction claim/BGs and related documents, LF/SUC payments, Deduction verification, LF/SUC assessment, BG Management, and related ancillary processes, across the life cycle of a licensee.

SARAS has digitised the deduction verification process from end to end, with digital filing of all deduction claims and related voluminous supporting documents (invoices, bank statements, ledgers, TDS certificates etc) by Licensees, as well as online verification and generation of deduction verification notices/reports by O/o Pr.CCA/CCAs. Further, SARAS facilitates enhanced transparency and accountability of deduction verification authorities by allowing for communication of item-wise allowance/disallowance with reasons. The SOP also prescribes that the process of Deduction Verification is to be conducted through the DVR module of SARAS for FY 2020-21 onwards.

Intis Telecom Launches a New Domain Zone, IT.COM

Intis Telecom announced the launch of a brand-new domain zone, IT.COM on November 1st 2021. The new Top-Level Domain is open for business right now at https://get.it.com and you’ll be able to select and protect any domain name in the new zone, for example yourname.it.com. Premium domain names will be made available for sale soon.

According to Internet experts, a significant advantage of the new domain zone is that IT.COM still belongs to .com. As a result, you won’t lose traffic. This situation can arise when a website is something other than a .com. People are used to searching for things ending with .com and if you don’t have one of these, you make it harder for potential customers to reach you.

During a recent press conference about the new domain zone, the CEO of Intis Telecom, Andrey Insarov, noted the following: “Most of the great domain names across so many zones are already taken. Competition in the .com zone is particularly strong right now and having a .com presence has never been as relevant as it is today. The new domain zone will prove particularly attractive to the Italian audience and of course anybody active in the area of ‘Information Technology’ too. IT.COM provides you with an incredible opportunity to highlight your brand. It’s also a great opportunity to start a new business venture based on a really great domain name sourced from IT.COM. The IT.COM client dashboard will allow any domain owner to easily perform advanced configuration of their domains and websites, including in-built free https certificates, integration of content delivery networks, DDoS protection and other features. All legal aspects of domain ownership are clearly set out in the agreement between the client and Intis Telecom and also fall under the jurisdiction of the UK.”

About IT.com and Intis Telecom

The IT.COM domain zone has been developed by Intis Telecom, a major telecommunications software supplier in London. The company specializes in the development of telecommunications software and has established itself as a leading international provider of business communications for more than ten years. Intis Telecom is a member of the GSMA, the Mobile Ecosystem Forum, RIPE and ICANN.
