Pierre Champoux appointed new Radio-Canada ombudsman

Pierre Champoux, Radio-Canada’s director of Digital Operations and Community Relations, has been appointed ombudsman for CBC/Radio-Canada’s French Services. Mr. Champoux will begin his new role on July 1, 2021. His appointment is for a five-year term.

Pierre Champoux has 35 years of extensive experience with media organizations, among them Groupe TVA and CBC/Radio-Canada, in key roles including lineup editor, editor-in-chief and news director.

CBC/Radio-Canada has two ombudsmen: one for CBC and one for Radio-Canada. Their job is to investigate complaints regarding compliance with our Journalistic Standards and Practices. The ombudsmen are independent of program staff and management, reporting directly to the President and CEO and, through the President, to the Corporation’s Board of Directors.
