The Apeejay Kolkata Literary Festival now in its tenth year witnessed a gala celebratory evening hosted by Mrs. Shirin Paul, Chairperson Emeritus, Apeejay Surrendra Group welcoming its speakers, guests and delegates. Shirin Paul and Priti Paul welcomed guests to the evening and raised a toast to begin the celebrations.
The evening hosted at THE PARK saw ambassadors, diplomats , politicians , authors and publishers in attendance . Ambassador of France to Italy , Lorenzo Angeloni, Salil Tripathi, Shobhaa De, Anita Ratnam, Andrew Sean Greer besides others.
About Apeejay Kolkata Literary Festival (AKLF) 2019 the 10th anniversary edition
A non-profit initiative free for everyone, Apeejay Kolkata Literary Festival is the only literary festival to have emerged from a bookstore – the nearly 100-year-old iconic Oxford Bookstore. The anniversary edition is bringing the celebration to Park Street, the birthplace of the bookstore nearly a century ago. The three-day literary extravaganza will be hosted in various heritage sites on Park Street. Writers, Poets and Dignitaries from China, Italy, France, Australia, Singapore, USA and UK will be in attendance along with Indian award-winning authors, eminent filmmakers, Politicians and Poets. A must attend lit fest, the only one in India created by a bookstore. Some of the eminent speakers who will be part of the AKLF 10th anniversary edition include Andrew Sean Greer, Pulitzer winner for Fiction 2018, Ira Mukhoty, known for her feminist writing; Devdutt Pattanaik, mythology expert and author; Ramchandra Guha, historian; Rujuta Diwekar, nutrition and exercise science expert and author; Ravinder Singh, Young Adult author; Upamanyu Chatterjee, celebrated writer; Ravish Kumar, journalist, Anuradha Roy, novelist, journalist and editor; Rajmohan Gandhi, historian and biographer; Shashi Tharoor, writer and parliamentarian; Shobhaa De, columnist and novelist; Anuja Chauhan, author and screenwriter;.
