Singapore’s homegrown electricity retailer Union Power Pte Ltd (“Union Power”) has been appointed as distribution partner for a proposed US$5 billion project promoted by Anantara Energy Holdings Pte Ltd (“Anantara”) to generate renewable energy in Indonesia and export up to 4 TWh annually back to the city-state. Canada – Clean Electricity Standard – Winter 2022 consultations

A Clean Electricity Standard discussion paper to be published in March 2022 will help guide engagements to inform the design and scope of the regulation, which will help drive progress towards achieving a net-zero electricity grid by 2035. At the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26), Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that Canada had set a goal of a net-zero electricity grid by 2035. The Union Ministry of Power has promulgated the Electricity (Transmission System Planning, Development and Recovery of Inter-State Transmission Charges) Rules 2021. This paves the way for overhauling of transmission system planning, towards giving power sector utilities easier access to the electricity transmission network across the country.             At present, generating companies apply for long-term access (LTA) based on their supply tie-ups, while medium-term and short-term transmission access is acquired within the available margins. Sky, Europe’s leading media and entertainment company, has today announced it has met its target to source 100% renewable electricity across its entire business, as it continues towards its ambition to be net zero carbon by 2030.
