Cyclone Tauktae Update – Indian Navy Continuing with Search and Rescue Operations

Indian Navy’s Search and Rescue (SAR) operations off Mumbai and Gujarat entered its third day today. Indian Naval ships and aircraft are presently undertaking SAR of the missing crew members of Accommodation Barge P-305, which sank on 17th May, 35 miles off Mumbai.  INS Kochi, Kolkata, Beas, Betwa, Teg, P8I maritime surveillance aircraft, Chetak and Seaking helicopters are involved in the SAR operations.  INS Kochi which entered harbour on 19th May, to disembark 125 survivors and mortal remains of four crew members, was immediately sailed out in the evening again to continue the Search effort. IAF PREPARATION FOR CYCLONE TAUKTAE CONTINUES

Continuing with the preparation for Cyclone Tauktae, the IAF on Sunday 16 May 21, had deployed 2 C-130J and 1 An-32 aircraft for transportation of 167 personnel and 16.5 tonnes of load of NDRF from Kolkata to Ahmedabad. The An-32 is enroute to Ahmedabad as of now. Another C-130J and 2 An-32 aircraft carried 121 NDRF personnel and 11.6 tonnes of load from Vijayawada to Ahmedabad for the same purpose.
