The truth is that the twins are born into a family of avengers sworn to vanquish Sirius. All of this is eventually revealed by the twins uncle Jonathan, who is a vampire himself sanctioned by the Church in the fight against Satans evil. The race to rescue the twins quickly escalates to a coming-of-age fantasy journey that spans both Americas and Europe.
