The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, London (London ETO) supported the UK premiere of WILD (The Musical), a captivating original production by the City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong (CCOHK), at the FUSE International festival at Rose Theatre, London on July 6 and 7 (London time).

WILD (The Musical) is a Broadway-style musical written by playwright Leanne Nicholls and composer Nick Harvey, featuring over 40 musicians, singers, dancers and technicians from Hong Kong. The performance integrates live orchestral music with a wide range of performing arts including beatboxing, Chinese drumming, ballet and Chinese martial arts dance. Apart from impressing the audience with music, dance, and theatrical performances, the musical relays a powerful message on wildlife preservation. CCOHK garnered international acclaim when the musical was awarded the Public Choice Award at the Young Audience Music Awards 2022 in Belgium.

The Director-General of the London ETO, Mr Gilford Law, greeted the audience at the opening show on July 6. Mr Law remarked, “We are thrilled to support the presentation of CCOHK’s WILD (The Musical) to London. CCOHK’s participation in the FUSE International festival showcases Hong Kong’s artistic and creative excellence, as well as the can-do spirit that defines Hong Kong. The city is truly a jungle of talents where dreams take flight and possibilities abound.”

“As showcased by WILD (The Musical) with its distinctive East-meets-West vibrancy, Hong Kong is an international hub for cultural and creative industries with promising development opportunities. Benefiting from its unique strengths under ‘one country, two systems’, Hong Kong is a melting pot of Chinese and Western cultures with extensive international connections. Seeing is believing, we warmly welcome all of you to visit Hong Kong and experience our unique cultural landscape,” he added.
