India becoming a police state
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is subjecting his public to immense torture by enforcing lockdown. It is officially called a lockdown but in reality, it is worse than emergency and martial law.
The police beats up public for no reason and get’s away with it. They are acting like local militia in Afghanistan that control a region. They beat people to pulp for no reason at all. Chinese Virus, aka, Wuhan Virus aka COVID-19 merely spreads through spit droplets spread by cough or sneezing. It does not spread through any other means. However, the way public is bashed up for just moving to get their daily necessities, it is mindless.
The number of people that are affected by Coronavirus are merely 700 and a handful of deaths. However, many more people have been injured or maimed than the total number of cases. Perhaps people would have died due to police beating, suicides, hunger and deprivation than the total casualties in the country due to the virus. One person, who had gone to get milk in Kolkata, died after he was beaten by the police. He was declared brought dead by the hospital.
There are many videos that are going viral where you can see police beating up men, women, children and older people. Due to lockdown of all travel, some people have decided to walk back home for hundreds of kilometers, with no food or facilities on the way, only to be beaten up or punished. Many of them will surely die on the way.
The essentials are in short supply almost everywhere in the country. The large country is dependent upon on movement of goods as the places that produce it are a lot away from the areas of consumption. It is a rubbish logic to stop movement of goods. It will only bring hardships.
Police is also exploiting the situation to demand bribes from shops selling essentials. It is in money or the goods that they take without paying for them.
Modi has proven himself to be a leader that does not shy of taking harsh decisions if he believes in the cause. However, he has to face the ground reality and immediately put a stop to the lockdown.
It can be replaced with a mask and social distancing law, which can be enforced more strictly. India had defeated communicable diseases by administration of vaccination. Lockdown may have worked but now the situation is getting out of hands. Soon the public may start rebelling against mistreatment. Already some communities have started blockading their areas to prevent police from getting in those areas.
Modi, set your people free. They deserve better.
