Blood Stem Cell Donation Awareness & Registration Campaign Organized by Transworld Group & DATRI
As part of companywide campaign of #I AM AND I WILL COMBAT CANCER, Transworld Group Corporate Responsibility team and energizers in global offices (India, UAE, Oman, KSA, Qatar, and Sri Lanka) facilitated Blood Stem Cell Donation Awareness and Registration for the corporate and warehouse staff in collaboration with DATRI, a not-for-profit Registry based in India. The mega Blood Stem Cell Donor Recruitment Drive in association with Transworld Group kicked off at Mumbai with 57 potential Blood Stem Cell Donors registering with DATRI. The awareness session in Dubai was led by Gopal Vachhani, a Datri donor. He shared his life changing experience of donating blood stem cells and meeting the recipient. He shared that stem cell transplant is a cure to life threatening diseases like leukaemia and thalassemia. Awareness sessions in other global offices were led by Datri representatives. 169 employees joined the sessions on Blood Stem Cell Donation Awareness. Following the sessions, CR energizer volunteers facilitated voluntary registration and a simple cheek swab test. Considering the fact that blood stem cell transplant is the only hope of cure for thousands of patients suffering from blood cancer and several other fatal blood disorders, 104 Transworld-ites registered as voluntary donors to support the noble cause.
