Visit of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to Lumbini, Nepal (16 May 2022)

I will be visiting Lumbini, Nepal on 16 May 2022 at the invitation of the Rt Hon’ble Sher Bahadur Deuba, Prime Minister of Nepal.


I look forward to offering prayers at the Mayadevi Temple on the auspicious occasion of Buddha Jayanti. I am honoured to follow in the footsteps of millions of Indians to pay reverence at the sacred site of Lord Buddha’s birth. 


I also look forward to meeting Prime Minister Deuba again after our productive discussions during his visit to India last month. We will continue to build on our shared understanding to expand cooperation in multiple areas, including in hydropower, development and connectivity.


Apart from visiting the holy Mayadevi Temple, I will be participating in “Shilanyas” ceremony of the India International Centre for Buddhist Culture & Heritage in the Lumbini Monastic Zone. I will also be attending celebrations to mark the occasion of Buddha Jayanti organised by the Government of Nepal.


Our ties with Nepal are unparalleled. The civilisational and people-to-people contacts between India and Nepal form the enduring edifice of our close relationship. My visit is intended to celebrate and further deepen these time-honoured linkages that have been fostered through centuries and recorded in our long history of inter-mingling.

Visit of Indian delegation led by Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare to Be’er Milka Farm of Indian Farmer in Israel

The Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Shri Narendra Singh Tomar along with an Indian delegation travelled extensively from Tel Aviv to visit to a desert boutique farm, Be’er Milka owned by a farmer of Indian origin Mr. Sharon Cherry in Negev desert area. This progressive farmer has adopted modern technologies with the technical support of Ramat Negev Agro Research Centre and is growing vegetables, fruits and super food in the heart of Negev desert. During the visit, the Indian delegation acquired information related to technological advancements in dry-land farming and support and outreach in applied agriculture by Israel’s regional research centres.

VISIT OF INS KOLKATA TO DJIBOUTI

INS Kolkata visited Djibouti from 04 – 07 May 22,  as part of the anti-piracy patrol being undertaken by the Indian Navy to ensure safe transit of merchant vessels in the Gulf of Aden. Captain Prashant Handu, the Commanding Officer called on Colonel Ahmed Daher Djama, Commander of the National Navy of Djibouti and Colonel Wais Omar Bogoreh, Commander-in-Chief of Djibouti Coast Guard during the visit. Both dignitaries also visited INS Kolkata, along with personnel from the Djibouti Navy and Coast Guard. The courtesy and camaraderie exhibited by the Djibouti Coast Guard and Navy to INS Kolkata reflects the strong friendship they share with the Indian Navy.

Visit Potter-Tioga Featured as Central PA Business Leader in Forbes, Fortune & Entrepreneur Magazines

 Visit Potter-Tioga, the County Visitors Bureau which covers the lush landscapes of north-central Pennsylvania, will be featured as a Central PA Business Leader in the upcoming editions of Forbes, Fortune, and Entrepreneur magazines. Readers will be educated on the organization’s strategy in promoting safe tourism for adventurous travelers throughout the past two years.

Through the eyes of Colleen Hanson, Executive Director of Visit Potter-Tioga, the feature follows the success of the Counties’ pandemic tourism strategy. The County Visitors Bureau promotes both Potter and Tioga Counties as destinations for travelers and in doing so, supports small businesses vital to tourism. Hanson credits these businesses for their extreme precautions, which helped keep cases to a minimum even when the areas were bustling with tourists.

“I knew we had to take a chance for the sake of the businesses,” Hanson says. “This is a place where people can come to vacation safely. We pushed hard to promote area attractions and wide-open spaces. With tourism as a top industry, we have been able to continue to bring visitors here and keep our residents employed.”

Visit Potter-Tioga hopes that the feature will reach tourists looking for places to enjoy the breathtaking beauty of their home state. The Pine-Creek Gorge, otherwise known as the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon, is a National Natural Landmark, deep within the Tioga State Forest, while Cherry Springs State Park has been named “the best place on Earth for stargazing,” by Travel Channel. Additionally, the Counties boast the Pine Creek Rail Trail, a 60-mile, scenic trail for hiking and biking, named by USA Today as one of the top five rail trails in the nation.

The opportunity of this feature will also allow Visit Potter-Tioga to reach other visitors bureau executives with the importance of promoting safe tourism. Through their own efforts, Potter and Tioga Counties saw tourists flock to the areas for fresh air, hiking, biking, camping, and stargazing.

The magazines showcasing Visit Potter-Tioga will be available in central Pennsylvania.

CRNO VISIT TO INDIA (13 – 17 FEB 22)

Rear Admiral Saif Bin Nasser Bin Mohsin Al Rahbi, Commander of the Royal Navy of Oman (CRNO) is on a goodwill visit of to India. The visit aims to consolidate bilateral relations with Indian Navy, as also to explore new avenues for defence cooperation with India. 


The CRNO commenced his visit by paying homage at National War Memorial on 14 Feb 22. The CRNO was received by Admiral R Hari Kumar, Chief of the Naval Staff, at the majestic South Block Lawns and accorded a 50 Men Guard of Honour. Both the Naval Principals held discussions to explore avenues to further enhance cooperation between the Navies. 


The CRNO would also be visiting Indian Navy’s Western Naval Command at Mumbai, wherein he would be interacting with the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Naval Command and visit IN ships at Naval Dockyard, Mumbai. 


           The first visit of the incumbent CRNO to India, reverberates the growing cooperation between the Indian Navy and the Royal Navy of Oman, which include operational interactions, training and exchange of Subject Matter Experts. Both Navies have been participating in the biennial maritime exercise ‘Naseem Al Bahr’ since 1993. This exercise was last conducted in 2020, off Goa and the next edition is scheduled later this year. INS Sudarshini visited Muscat in Dec 21 and had embarked RNO Sea Riders for sea experience.
