Hong Kong – Appeal for blood donations as blood stocks run low

Appeal for blood donations as blood stocks run low

**************************************************

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

The spokesperson for the Hong Kong Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service (BTS) today (September 26) announced that the blood inventories have been depleted to very low levels, with only three to four days’ stock. It is important to duly replenish the blood inventories to meet the blood demand of local hospitals during the National Day and Chung Yeung Festival public holidays. The BTS urgently appealed to members of the public to donate blood to provide sufficient blood supply for clinical transfusion to patients.

Blood collection has been unstable due to the capricious epidemic situation. The stock level might not meet the daily demand from local hospitals. Blood supply is crucial in local hospitals for treating various illness. Needless to say, blood collection is crucial for the accident and emergency departments, not to mention for emergency operations and organ transplants as well as for meeting blood demand from thalassemia and blood cancer patients.

As a token of gratitude for the support of blood donors, the BTS has prepared a limited edition “Blood Donation Captain” recycle bag (see Annex 1) for blood donors who come forward to give blood at donor centres, while stocks last. Most of the BTS’ donor centres will maintain normal service during the National Day and Chung Yeung Festival public holidays (see Annex 2). The BTS welcomes the support of the public in blood donation.

Anyone aged between 16 and 65 (donation is possible up to the age of 75 if predetermined conditions are met), weighs 41kg or above and is in good health is eligible to give blood. To prevent crowds from gathering and long waiting times, donors are advised to make appointments by calling the donor centres, via the “HK Blood” mobile app or visiting the BTS website (www5.ha.org.hk/rcbts).

Call for blood donations before Chinese New Year

************************************************

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

The Hong Kong Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service (BTS) spokesman today (January 20) appealed to members of the public to donate blood before Chinese New Year and to make prior appointment so as to prevent crowd gathering and long waiting time. BTS appealed members of the public to donate blood to maintain a stable blood supply for clinical transfusion to patients.

As a token of thanks, every blood donor who donates successfully at donor centres or the blood donation vehicle will receive a set of red packet pouch set (see annex), while stocks last.

BTS welcomes members of the public to make appointment for blood donation by calling the BTS’ donor centres, via the “HK Blood” mobile apps or on-line booking at BTS website. For details, please visit www.ha.org.hk/rcbts.

Hong Kong – Give blood to save lives during Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays (with photo)

Give blood to save lives during Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays (with photo)

******************************************************************************************

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

The Hong Kong Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service (BTS) today (September 18) appealed to members of the public to share their blessing of reunion by giving blood and registering for bone marrow donation before the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays. The BTS spokesperson said that the blood inventory is now at a low level. The demand for blood has a tendency to outpace the supply, pushing blood banks to near critical levels. The blood inventories have to be duly replenished to maintain a stable blood supply for clinical transfusion to patients in hospitals.

Just before the Mid-Autumn Festival, Emily Fung came to hospital for a blood transfusion. Emily was diagnosed with thalassaemia major at the age of one. These patients suffer from a serious impairment in haemoglobin production, and will require lifelong regular blood transfusions. Emily appreciates the essential role of regular blood donors for backing her up in this lifelong battle, “I need two to three units of red blood cells for transfusion therapy every five weeks. It is the blood from generous donors running in my body which keeps me alive. I would like to thank all blood donors. You are literally providing an incredible lifesaving resource to us, who rely on your donations for our survival. With your support, I can enjoy celebrating every Mid-Autumn Festival with family and friends.”

Most BTS donor centres open on public holidays (see Annex 1 attached). To celebrate the coming Mid-Autumn Festival, as well as a token of thanks, BTS has prepared seasonal fruits for blood donors who come forward to give blood during September 18-22. All successful donations at a donor centre or donation vehicle during this period will receive one Nanshui pear or one Shatian pomelo. Please refer to the attached promotional poster for details (Annex 2).

Anyone aged between 16 and 66 (donation is possible up to the age of 76 if predetermined conditions are met), weighs 41 kilograms or above and is in good health is eligible to give blood. To prevent crowds from gathering and long waiting times at the donor centres, donors are advised to make appointments by calling the BTS’ donor centres or via the “HK Blood” mobile app. For details, please visit www5.ha.org.hk/rcbts/mobile-app.

BLOOD BROTHERS D’SHAY x B’SHAY ARE ABOUT TO CHANGE THE MUSIC INDUSTRY WITH VIBES, CHEMISTRY, CADENCE AND MELODIES

London, UK, 21 June 2021, ZEXPRWIRE, The next song is all about good vibes, blunt blowing, chain-smoking and drinking. This banger is called ‘Don’t Know Why’ from the UK hip-hop artists D’Shay and B’Shay. The song was released in late July, but I waited until the music video was out to review the song, and I must really admit that the video was worth waiting for. D’Shay and B’Shay are mastering this musical style perfectly, their flows are catchy and their vocal delivery is impressive. The beat is hard and the instrumental is memorable. This track was produced and mixed very well and the recording quality is awesome. Enjoy the vibe and if you liked it, please feel free to share it with your friends, this tune deserves to be heard everywhere.
