New Book by Jeffrey Kass: The Rona Diaries

ADELAIDE BOOKS is proud to offer the latest work by Timothy Ryan Day Big Sky hitting stores everywhere now.

One of the most violent chapters in American history is also one of the least discussed. BIG SKY aims to illuminate the events of the Tulsa race riots in a modern, high-paced story that combines historical fiction, magical realism, and a fresh voice. BIG SKY follows its main character, an unsuccessful rock musician of mixed race from Chicago, as he hitchhikes to his stepmother’s funeral in Tulsa, Oklahoma soon after the beginning of the new millennium. The story that unfolds as he makes his way is one of two families, one white, the other black, who were tied together by the events of Tulsa’s 1921 race riots. One family followed an industrial and political path that may be endangered by the other’s artistic and journalistic pursuits that emanate from a grandfather who was one part Heidegger, one part Nostradamus, and one part James Baldwin. The main character is followed on his journey South by a brilliant if sinister biologist who may have the key to their interconnection.

Timothy Ryan Day was born in Tulsa, grew up in Chicago and lives in Spain where he teaches writing and Literature at Saint Louis University. He has taught at Universities in China, Arizona and Spain. Along with his wife he runs restaurants in Madrid that focus on local products and literary events. His work has appeared in forums such as Green Letters, The Nervous Breakdown, and The Toucan, among others. His poetry collection Green & Grey was published by Lemon Street Press in 2019. ADELAIDE BOOKS is proud to offer the latest work by Kyle Doty Violence: Metamorphosis hitting stores everywhere on September 30th, 2020.

A proportion is a share that is in comparative relation to a whole. As such, Violence: Metamorphosis is about the amount of everyday violence that must go into the metamorphosis of life. The collection weaves together topics of marriage, children, nature, faith, and regret. Violence: Metamorphosis gives voice to the mundane terror of day-to-day life and creates a balance between that terror and the peace that we seek.

Kyle Doty is the author of Hush, Don’t Tell Nobody and Winter Lightning. He works at a virtual school from his home office where he is managed by two imperious felines, Catticus Finch and Thatcher. Kyle is, at times, a freelance writer and editor. He is also a doctoral student at Southeastern University studying curriculum and instruction. Kyle lives in rural Florida with his family.

New Book by Edward Bonner: Beauty and Wickedness

ADELAIDE BOOKS is proud to offer the latest work by Edward V. Bonner Beauty and Wickedness hitting stores everywhere on September 30th, 2020.

The titles of Edward V. Bonner’s poetry suggest many ways in which these poems express his personal experiences and connect his thoughts to the universal search for true meanings of many of our realities. Most of the poems examine the themes of beauty and risk, pleasure and danger, in the context of one of three kinds of relationships: to romantic partners, to the spiritual world, and to the world of nature. But while these concerns are shared by much of humanity, Bonner’s poems sound consistently personal.

Edward Bonner grew up in a rough area of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, a small mill town called Hazelwood. An avid outdoorsman, he holds degrees in business and aeronautics, an A&P license, and 6th degree black belt in Shotokan karate. He is the author of poetry collections One Kiss – Just One Kiss, Through the Eyes of a Lost Boy, and Purple Dawn, published by Adelaide Books. A regular contributor to Adelaide Literary Magazine, he is the Finalist of the Adelaide Voices Literary Contest 2018.
