Comtrend Integrates KDPOF”s Gigabit Ethernet POF for Home Networks

KDPOF – a leading supplier for gigabit silicon transceivers over POF (Plastic Optical Fiber) – proudly announces that Comtrend has implemented their Gigabit Ethernet POF (GEPOF) technology in order to provide guaranteed connectivity within home networks. “Comtrend have preferred our POF optical transceiver KD1001 for their new device since more and more Service Providers require a way to secure robust connectivity with very low latency, reduced jitter, fast download speeds, and flawless connectivity for video,” stated Carlos Pardo, CEO and Co-founder of KDPOF. Comtrend”s new product provides two POF and two Ethernet ports in order to allow daisy chain topologies. “Service Providers worldwide will benefit from being able to deliver guaranteed 1 Gigabit connectivity into homes by combining the POF backbone with Wi-Fi Mesh.”

For customers that demand assured performance, POF is the preferred option. POF cables are practically invisible since installers can reuse any existing conduits or install in a very unnoticeable way in the home. Plastic Optical Fiber is cost-efficient, robust, and much easier and quicker to install than Cat 6 cables.

KDPOF will present their in-home robust optical backbone connectivity at stand B40 at the Broadband World Forum on October 15 to 17, 2019 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. In his presentation “Gbps: Do Customers Care?” on October 16, 2019 at 10:05, Ramon Garcia, Business Development Manager with KDPOF, will discuss how to satisfy Gbps customers and thereby increase the number of subscribers willing to pay for qualified bandwidth instead of sole connectivity.

Boost your Start Up

Rieta de Soet, CEO of Global Management Consultants AG in Switzerland says that many Start Up companies start at a Business Center. There are a lot of benefits that come with renting office space at a Business Center like the GMC AG, such as low costs and the support of professionals with many years of experience.

GMC AG supports its customers with words and deeds. Rieta de Soet has set up GMC AG herself and knows how difficult it is to start a business and has some useful tips for Start Ups.

1. Take part in competitions for Start Ups. Even if you do not win, you get publicity. Initially, it is very important to get your name out there, so you should not miss a chance.

2. Advertising is much easier these days than it was 20 years ago, says Rieta de Soet. The social networks allow fast, cheap and global advertising 24/7. The good thing about it, you can control your accounts at any time from any location.

3. Establish contacts. This is where the Business Center comes into play. Due to its long existence, GMC AG has numerous useful contacts and acquaints its customers with potential partners. Networking must not be underestimated.

4. Finding the right partner. If you work at a Business Center, like GMC AG in Zug, you are not on your own. You have a strong partner with a lot of experience at your side, which gives the Start Up company a good image from the start.

Not only the cost factor plays a big role, why Start Up companies should first start at a Business Center, but also the support they get from a company like GMC AG, Fabian de Soet concludes.

From the very first idea to the final process

Which process is best suited for which application? How do you establish a specific temperature profile? And which technologies can help reduce voids in the soldering joints? Be it competent consultation, process demonstration or technical training – Rehm Thermal Systems, as the leading manufacturer of thermal system solutions for the electronics and photovoltaics industry, offers a plethora of possibilities in its Technology Centre. Moreover, specialists from Rehm will discuss innovative solutions for new application and methods with the customers in order to optimise manufacturing processes in the long run.

Rehm”s application specialists are on hand as advisors to provide support in selecting the right system or to create individual process parameters. “Each product has different requirements in production. In the direct application of vacuum, vapor phase and convection soldering processes, we can precisely determine the advantages and disadvantages for the product to be manufactured and specify the optimum system technology. In the second step, we can then determine the optimum process parameters, e.g., for paste printing, linear/saddle profile, vacuum process or coating application. With the options in our Demo-centre, we can react in a flexible manner to the wishes of our customers”, explained Helmut Öttl, Head of Application and Process Development. Customers can work out the optimum machine concept for their requirements together with the application specialists. The assembly is of particular focus here – the processes are selected based on this.

In order to present the customers the complete range of soldering products within this framework, Rehm is supported by renowned companies from the industry that provide the corresponding equipment. “We have our partners to thank for this”, said Johannes Rehm. “We can now combine everything under one roof – consulting and customer service, technical expertise, the vivid demonstration of entire production lines and the exchange of knowledge and experience in the seminars. These possibilities are very well appreciated by our customers”.

The Technology Centre also offers ideal conditions for training courses and events. Soldering theory and practice can be perfectly combined here. An important point on this note: At the request of the customer, both the process consulting and the execution of the trials can be carried out absolutely confidentially. In a secured room with access control, which is not accessible to everyone, strictly confidential new developments can be developed together with the application specialists.

Do you require assistance for a special application or would like to explore the topic of soldering live in our Demo-centre? You are welcome to make an appointment at applikation@rehm-group.com. You can find information about the current events and seminar series on our website at www.rehm-group.com.
