TCS named technology partner for IPL champions Rajasthan Royals

Tata Consultancy Services, (TCS) (BSE: TCS.BO, NSE: TCS.NS), a leading IT services, business solutions and outsourcing organisation, today announced that it has entered into an agreement for a technology partnership with the Rajasthan Royals, champions of Indian Premier League 2008.

This marks a historic moment for the IPL as it is the first time that an IPL team has inducted a technology partner into the organisation to help the team stay on the championship track. Under the terms of the agreement, which was signed this week, TCS will be the technology partner of the Rajasthan Royals for an initial duration of three years.

TCS will provide expertise in information technology solutions to the Rajasthan Royals organisation, on and off the field, in an effort to enhance the efficiency of the organisation and help them retain their title as IPL champions in season two as well.

TCS will work closely with the professionals engaged with the team to improve their performance on the field and the franchise’s ability to offer greater value in terms of enhancing the viewing experience for the fans.

Said Ranjit Barthakur, vice chairman, Rajasthan Royals, “A technology partner like Tata Consultancy Services will help us (the Rajasthan Royals) raise the bar, not just on the field in our performance but more critically off field as well. We hope this association will help us strengthen our multiple fan contact opportunities on platforms of web and mobile and bring our fans and supporters across the world closer to us.”

“As the technology partner for Rajasthan Royals, TCS is excited to play a meaningful role in the evolution of the Indian Premier League. This relationship is another big step in our journey to partner with global champions across different sporting arenas and work with them to enhance their performance and operations on an ongoing basis,” said Jayant Pendharkar, head, global marketing, TCS.

Commenting on the initiative, Shane Warne, captain-coach, Rajasthan Royals, said, “Rajasthan Royals represents an ideal combination of skill and experience. It’s good to be associated with a winning and trustworthy brand like TCS as their contribution will be an added advantage.”

TCS works with other sports organisations like racing major Ferrari in formula one and Ducati, the leader in bike racing. In the past few years, TCS has also consulted with the Indian national cricket team on lateral thinking and communication strategies and with the Board of Control for Cricket in India on organisational structure and effectiveness as well as other technology solutions.
