Hyderabad, April 21… City based Rachnoutsav Events Academy, South Asia first academy to offer an integrated full-time learning program in Event Management and Wedding Planning organised here in its campus today a Workshop on “Art of Anchoring with Roshan Abbas", a well known TV host, presenter, Radio Jockey and Theatre personality. The sole objective of the workshop was to make people know various aspects of Event Management informed Mr. Sanjay Kankaria.

Addressing 25 professional television anchors and Radio jockeys, aspiring compeers, he said professional anchoring has come of the age. As event get more professional, compering, event hosting has also become professional and challenging. Roshan Abbas shared his 25 years experience in professional anchoring.

Names are challenging. Get them right. Just pronounce a name wrongly, you will learn a lesson of your life. As a host you need to be very careful. You have no right to spell somebody's name wrong. Check how they want you to spell their name. Make sure you announce the name rightly, he told his participants, who are basically a professional anchors, comperes and Radio Jockeys.

Shahrukh Khan is the wittiest man ever to be interviewed he said. Interviewing him is always a challenge. When asked who according to him was the best Anchor in the country, he said Ruby Bhatia. But, unfortunately she is no more to be seen in the field, he informed.

Adding further he stated that Mini Mathur and Mandira Bedi are also excellent TV Anchors the country has today. Another wittiest man on TV in India he said Mr. Cyrus Broacha. He is an excellent TV Anchor, Theatre Personality and Political Satirist. He does very good job, but, yet times he goes uncontrollable. Similarly Sidhu is an excellent anchor on sports in India, but, he needs to be controlled well.

Sidhu is a river in speed, there is no dam to control. But, Gaurav on Sony Max is handling him well he said. As an anchor you need to develop your style and uniqueness. Mr. Mayur is doing in the space of Birthday parties. And he is doing well. There is a little competition there. He identified very niche area. You an develop your own expertise, he told them.

He asked his participants check how good anchors they were based 7 traits required for the profession. They include voice, communicative, presentable. Good anchor needs to be a sponge. Are you a broadcaster? you need to check. You need to be quick in reacting. Must be a good observer and have presence of mind.

As a professional anchor you get to do different kinds of shows that inlcude Road Shows, Personal Milestone Events, Corporate Events, TV Events, Game Shows, Radio Shows and Interviews.

An anchor needs to engage the audience. You must smile at them. Ask questions, involve them. You must hand your audience, crowd well. You will encounter four kinds of audience, they include the Heckler--attention seekers, The know it all types, The departed--who doze off in the meetings and the questioner. The best way to handle them is to give them the attention they seek, he said. You can not be a star. Make your audience stars. Make everybody a star in the event. That is the best success of an anchor. Roadshows are the best places to learn TV Anchoring. Words are your best tools. Use them very well. Anchoring is exciting. Give it its due. It will pay back you 100 times, he told them.

A television anchor is the identity of any channel and carries with him a unique quality. They are not only mere presenters but are required to have updated knowledge about the world around them. TV anchors are also required to have a striking and controlled body language, an essential prerequisite of these professionals. A good TV anchor has to be wholehearted, active and spirited. On the entertainment front, a TV anchor must not be offensive, biased and derogatory. They must have an empathy and sensitivity towards other's views and lifestyles. It is only then one can become a revered, well known and beloved TV presenters.

It is a wrong notion that TV anchors have a short life said Mr. Roshan Abbas. The truth is that there is immense scope in this profession as the field is very wide and versatile. And it is growing each passing year. Today best anchor earns in lakhs for a show. And hogs all the limelight, he told them.

TV anchors are in great demand these days, one can earn a decent salary. On the other hand, depending upon experience and one's abilities the salary of TV anchors can touch nearly Rs 30, 000 till Rs 1 lakh. If we keep money aside, good anchoring will fetch name, fame and most importantly creative satisfaction.

It is a well known fact that surviving is very tough and only few courageous and passionate people can make it big. You need to constantly on your toes, he told them. If given opportunities he promised that he would come and help spread his knowledge for the common growth of the industry.

Shilpa, a professional anchor participant was very happy that Rachnoutsav Events Academy has organised such professional workshop. She gained lot of insights into the art of anchoring. Mr. Akshit said there was not forum to learn the skill for new presenters. We can learn a lot from the practical experience of such a prolific anchors. We wish, we get more opportunities very frequently he said. Ramya, who has been a compere from here college days earns now about Rs 20,000 per month by doing anchoring. The workshop helped her to hone her skills and groomed her towards more professional anchor.
