From January 15 to January 27, Quillr, a lit-tech startup focused on short books, are publishing thirteen upcoming writers who graduated from the comprehensive writing and mentorship program conducted by internationally renowned English-language author, Ms. Anita Nair, the author of several acclaimed books including Cut Like Wound, Idris and Chain of Custody.

A wide variety of writers are getting published as a part of this event – including Vedanarayanan Vedantham (Global Head of Marketing at Simplilearn), Debleena Roy (Director at Unitus Seed fund) and Shreya Dasgupta (Science writer with articles in BBC Earth and New Scientist) among others.

Aswin Sambamurthy, founder of the short content platform, says, “The partnership with Anita’s Attic is one of our first experiments with introducing bright new voices in the short fiction scene. The twelve day launch will also see readers participating in contests and winning signed copies of Ms. Nair’s books and gift vouchers among other things. We have also partnered with over 50 writers and publishers so far to bring their short content on to our platform.” The fifth season of Anita’s attic is now open for applications at www.anitasattic.com and starts in July 2017.

Along with titles from marquee names such as Srishti publications and Anita’s Attic, the company has published individual writers on its platform – both new and previously published. It is to be noted that Srishti published the first books of some of the leading writers in the country like Preeti Shenoy, Durjoy Datta and Sudeep Nagarkar over the last eighteen years.

Talking about Quillr, Aswin said, “We’re building our app with an aim to instil the reading habit in more people, as a well read population can only be good news for any country. We have started with a web experience as a first step to validate some ideas and are in talks to raise our first round of funding.“

Quillr is a new age platform for short books that aims to instil the reading habit in more people through an app that cares for the reader. The company currently has a web and mobile site experience at www.quillrapp.com and are launching their mobile apps across all leading platforms in the next few months.
