BOCA RATON, Fla. – Going 10 years strong, co-founders Douglas Heizer and David Wilson created The Rotary International’s Toy Drive ( in 2006. At that time, Rotary Clubs of Boca Raton helped build the 30 plus two wheelchair accessible Carousel that is a festive scene at Sugar Sand Park. In gratitude, they grant The Rotary Clubs one day to use the carousel as they wish and they utilize it to give their warm humanitiarn endeavors back to children in the community. This year, December 4th marks the 10th consecutive year in which the Boca Raton Toy Drive is being held at Sugar Sand Park located at 300 S Military Trail, Boca Raton, FL 33486.
“It was a need I saw in our community that was being neglected and I knew we had to make a difference somehow. I never expected this Toy Drive to get so big but I am excited and happy to see the community joining together for such an important cause,” says co-founder Douglas Heizer.
Over the years there has been over $50,000 in toys and donations collected for Boca Helping Hands and Wayne Barton Study Center. This year brings hopes for record breaking donations as they partner with local businesses and increase their drop-off locations to facilitate and boost donations. In addition to the 10 different locations dispersed throughout Boca Raton, RE/MAX Real Estate has volunteered all of their 6 South Florida office as drop-off locations for toys. This year’s other sponsors include Innovation Design, Heizer Media Group, The Boca Raton Tribune, San Bernardo Ice Cream and Fury Road Riders Club.
It all leads up to the main event on December 4, 2016 from 10 AM to 4 PM at Sugar Sand Park. Along with a donation kids are able to ride the carousel, meet Santa and have a free lunch with drinks, and this year we added motorcycles bring in the toys and loud cheer.
“We were thrilled to become one of the many drop off locations this year and hope to do it for years to come,” said Adrienne Mazzone, President, TransMedia Group, a full-service, multi-lingual international public relations firm serving clients worldwide since 1981.
