Bhai Dooj one of the beautiful Festival, that is celebrated on the 5th Day of Diwali to commemorate the wonderful bond of love and care between the brother and sister. 1st November 2016 this year is celebrated as Bhai Dooj, which is 5th day of Diwali.
Just like all other Indian festivals, Bhaidooj also has a mythological history. It is believed that Lord Yama (the God of Death) went to meet his sister on this day, who felt extremely happy on seeing her brother. She gave him a warm welcome by putting a Tilak on his forehead and performing an Aarti. Lord Yama was touched by her welcome and he declared that whosoever will visit his sister on this day will be protected from the fire of Hell. According to another legend, on the auspicious day of Bhai Dooj Lord Krishna, after slaying the Narakasura demon, goes to his sister Subhadra where she welcomes her brother with the lamp, sweets, flowers, etc and put the holy protective tilak on his forehead. Keeping this legend in mind, people celebrate the festival of Bhai Dooj with great enthusiasm and fervor.
