India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), the public sector undertaking under the aegis of the Ministry of Tourism, conducted its 51st Annual General Meeting at the Group’s hotel, The Samrat, New Delhi.
The Corporation closed the year once again with the remarkable performance. The Turnover of the Corporation during the Financial Year 2015-16 was Rs.465.69 crore.
The net profit before tax has been recorded to Rs.32.42 crore during 2015-16
The profit after tax was Rs.22.55 crore.
The highlights of the AGM was the declaration of a dividend of 15% amounting to Rs.12.86 crore approximately as recommended by the Board in the meeting held on 30th May, 2016. Out of Rs. 12.86 crore, an approximate amount of Rs.11.20 crore will go to the Government of India.
The meeting was chaired by Shri Umang Narula, IAS, Chairman & Managing Director of the Corporation
The Board of Directors present at the meeting were Sh. Piyush Tiwari, Director (Commercial & Marketing), Shri Pradip Kumar Das, Director (Finance), Government Nominee Directors and the Independent Directors.
The Corporation has shown a significant improvement in the operational efficiency. Overall occupancy during 2015-16 was 52% as against 47% during 2014-15 with flagship Hotel ‘The Ashok’ recording occupancy of 54% during 2015-16.
The Corporation is determined to perform even better in the coming years both in terms of profitability and in the turnover besides improving the operational efficiency
To meet the challenges of dynamic market situation, the Corporation is focusing more towards improving the quality and range of services through its various verticals i.e. Ashok Group of Hotels, Ashok Events, Ashok Tours & Travels, Ashok Consultancy & Engineering Services, Ashok Institute of Hospitality & Tourism Management and Ashok International Trade Division.
To improve overall performance, the Corporation has undertaken aggressive sales and marketing initiatives in India and abroad. The Corporation has participated in many Travel Marts and Exhibitions and has tied up with on-line international and domestic travel agents. The Company has tied up with Amadeus- Global Distribution System (GDS) for three Delhi based hotels for better distribution of inventory. The Company has also implemented Channel Manager Software with facility of pool inventory for dynamic pricing. Further Smart Hotel Initiatives have been implemented to get customer experience and use analytics to improve performance and bring out change in service delivery standards. Tab based real time customers feedback system has been implemented on trial basis at Hotel Ashok.
Ministry of Tourism has also reposed its renewed confidence by awarding various infrastructure projects for execution by ITDC. The Corporation is determined to deliver in most efficient manner both in terms of timelines as well as cost.
Under CSR Initiatives during 2015-16, the corporation has adopted Qutub Minar for maintaining cleanliness as per objective of the Corporation. The Corporation has also constructed two toilets at Churu (Rajasthan) under “Swachh Bharat Mission” of the Hon’ble Prime Minister. The corporation has decided to adopt more monuments apart from Qutub Minar under “Swachh Bharat” during 2016-17 under the CSR activities.
ITDC was incorporated in 1966 with a mandate to develop and expand tourism infrastructure in the country. Today, the Corporation offers a bouquet of services with its business activities ranging from Hotel Accommodation, Catering, Transport, Travel Agency, Consultancy, Duty Free Trade, Manpower Training, and Event Management to allied activities such as execution of tourism and engineering projects, promotion of tourism via Sound & Light Shows amongst others.
As ITDC is completing its 50th year on 1st October, 2016 of its glorious journey, a new logo has been unveiled by Dr Mahesh Sharma, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Tourism and Culture marking 50 years of excellence of ITDC in tourism and travel industry.
